The Western College Of Homeopathic Medicine delivers doctoral-level homeopathic training. Students at WCHM work under the direction of practicing homeopaths and graduate after four years of study with a Diploma in Classical Homeopathy and Medical Sciences. Homeopathy is a comprehensive, holistic system of medicine established in the early 1800’s by German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Based on the Law of Similars, a concept put forth by philosophers predating him, Hahnemann sought a principle-based method of curing people safely, gently and effectively. During his lifetime he discovered and developed a system of medicine unlike any other before or since, documenting his findings in six editions of the Organon, the primary textbook of Homeopathy. From the Greek “homoios” meaning similar and “patheia” meaning suffering, Homeopathy continues to be founded on this and other principles in discernment and treatment of acute and chronic disease. 
Homeopathy has been a vital component of mainstream medicine in England, Europe, India and South America since its inception and is now one of the fastest-growing disciplines in alternative medicine in North America. It is a holistic view of health and disease, taking into account states of the body, mind and emotions, the mechanism of which is non-toxic medicines that stimulate the body’s innate capacity to heal itself. Homeopathy offers a way of understanding health and disease that is harmonious with the laws of nature, effecting change in the vital force of the individual with homeopathically potentized substances.
The Western College of Homeopathic Medicine is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is dedicated to instruction in Classical Homeopathy with parallel instruction in Medical Sciences as it relates to a professional practice in alternative medicine. Along with academically rigorous clinical research and plentiful Student Clinic opportunities, this school is promoting the profession while training individuals to become skilled, working Homeopaths.
NOTE: WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER, 2012! Our diploma program for homeopathic practitioners consists of over 4000 hours of study, including classroom hours, clinical research, live case-taking and analysis, and triturations. Our classroom curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, pathology and disease, microbiology, genetics, embryology, physical examination and diagnosis, pharmacology, nutrition, public health, practice management, ethics, standards and regulations, as well as the principles and history of classical homeopathy up to and including the Sensation Method. Individuals undertaking this course of study will find its experiential focus challenging and engaging regardless of their previous education or experience in medicine and healing arts. We also offer a variety of exciting courses and seminars for the general public and for health practitioners in other modalities seeking to increase their skill sets. Coming Soon: Homeopathy for Birth Professionals (Class Start Dates TBA)The number of expectant mothers seeking homeopathic assistance as part of their birth plan continues to increase. This indicates a need for more education in homeopathy for pregnancy and childbirth, both for birth professionals and the public at large, so that this trend of increased interest in non-toxic, gentle birth support can continue. Midwives and doulas are encouraged to attend and learn to use homeopathy as part of their profession, but this course is also available to the layperson. All are welcome. Expectant couples are invited to attend for the cost of one registration. This course is taught by Linda G.
